Our House!

So, we bought a house! (You probably already knew that.) But, maybe you haven't heard the story or seen the photos. Dave and I have been looking at houses ever since our first year of marriage, but nothing ever came of it. Then on our walks with Kira we discovered a HUD home in our neighborhood and that got us thinking. At the same time, I was going through some fertility testing, and Dave gave me a priesthood blessing. In the blessing it said that we should start preparing physically for a baby. I thought that meant buying a crib, Dave thought that meant buying a house. :) So, we started looking more seriously. Well, five months later we were still looking - online almost daily, and going out with our realtor about every week, sometimes twice a week. Finally, we saw this house. When we toured it, it had everything we wanted and more. We prayed and did all of our research, and it felt right! I have to say, it has felt even more right the longer we have lived here. We LOVE our neighborhood. I couldn't have chosen better people to have as neighbors. And, we are close to everything. The library, park, grocery store, and recreation center all are in walking distance, and the entrance to the freeway is a 2-minute drive away.

Since we moved in we have painted many of the rooms, removed wallpaper and chair rail, diminished the size of the vegetable garden, planted two fruit trees and some strawberry and raspberry plants, installed new window coverings, changed a light fixture, and put in a new banister. Here are a few fun before and after shots for you:

Before - Bright Pink Baby's Room:

After - Super Hero Guest Room:

Before - Unsteady Banister That Didn't Match the New Paint:

After - New Banister and Light Fixture!

And here's an artsy photo that my friend Eunji took of Kira in our living room:
