Canyon Adventures
This one's being written by Dave. So this summer, I got a calling with the priests and soon thereafter found myself on a camping trip that involved a huge hike the first day. It was supposed to be a few hours, a few rappels, and we'd call it a day. We thought we'd grab lunch afterward even. It ended up being just a bit more than any of us expected though...
It took a total of 12 hours (for the last of us to finish). There was no trail we followed; we just started at the top of a mountain and made our way down a canyon. The good news: we all made it out alive despite running out of water several times (there were a few leaders who wisely brought water filters). The bad news: one of the young men got a bad wrist injury, ended up almost slicing his artery and a tendon, and wound up in the hospital. He finished the hike though, including four rappels!
It was a fun trip and I think everybody had a blast!
